Antonelli makes more history after Victory in Japan

The 19 year old star is continuing to create history following victory, whilst Oscar Piastri stands on the podium in the first Grand Prix he has started this season

Antonelli takes championship lead after victory

It was another poor race start for Antonelli, with wheelspin causing him to drop to 5th. However a safety car on lap 23, when his teammate George Russell had already pit the lap before, gave Antonelli the chance for a cheap pit stop, putting him in the lead. A position he held onto for the rest of the race, cruising to his second victory. He now leads the Driver's Championship, and at just 19, is the youngest in history to do so. Could he become the youngest Championship winner by the end of the season?

Piastri on the podium

Following 2 DNS in the opening 2 Grand Prix, simply starting the race was a massive positive for Piastri. But it ended up being much better than simply starting. After a brilliant launch, he shot himself into the race lead. However he pit on lap 19, which meant after others got a cheap pit stop under the safety car on lap 23, he dropped to 2nd behind Antonelli. He wasn't able to challenge for the race lead after, but drove his McLaren home for P2 to finally get his season going and put Papaya on the podium for the first time this season.

Gasly continues his good form

It was P7 in the race for Pierre Gasly making it 3/3 for scoring points in Grand Prix this season. Adding another 6 points to his tally to take him to 8th in the Drivers Championship, and moving Alpine up to 5th, ahead of Red Bull after another poor weekend for them.

Ollie Bearman suffers a 50g crash sparking major concern with regulations

On lap 22, Bearman was going for an overtake on Franco Colapinto, and due to massive differences in the 2 cars speed because Bearman was using more electrical power to get the overtake done,  he lost control of the Haas and went into the grass before spinning into the barrier at the Spoon Curve corner at a high speed.  Bearman was seen limping after getting out of the car, the crash being at 50G, the same as Verstappen's one after a collision with Lewis Hamilton in 2021 at Silverstone. Bearman luckily escaped without any fractures but the crash has sparked outrage with the regulations. The FIA will be working with teams and drivers over the next few weeks with a month of no racing, to talk about the 2026 regulations, and potential tweaks that can be made.
